Overview

The Spanish interrogative words all have an accent mark that does not affect pronunciation.

¿Cómo?

Translates to How?.

¿Cuál?

Translates to Which, which one?. The plural form is ¿Cuáles?.

This interrogative word can be used immediately before ser to ask for a selection or choice from among various possibilities.

¿Cuándo?

Translates to When?.

¿Cuánto?

Translates to How much?.

The plural forms ¿Cuántos? and ¿Cuántas? translate to How many?.

These are adjectives and hence must agree in gender with the plural nouns they describe.

¿Dónde?

Translates to Where?. Adónde (or a dónde) translates to To where?.

¿Por qué?

Translates to Why?.

¿Qué?

Translates to What?.

¿Quién?

Translates to Who?. The plural form is ¿Quiénes?.
